Benz State Champion Again: Wins P12 State Individual Time Trial, Team takes 2nd

Erick Benz pulled off a big upset, becoming the P12 Texas State Time Trial Champion and unofficial “fastest man in Texas” pushing Stephan Rothe (Mercy Cycling) into second place and last year’s winner Dave Wenger (Super Squaddra) into third.  Benz’s time of 52:05 was just three seconds off the state 40K record.

Annick Beaudet State Champion Individual Time Trial Sets Cat 3 State Record, Team 3rd

Annick Beaudet continued built on her strong performance at Master's Nationals by winning the Cat 3 individual time trial with a time of 59:46.  Her time was also faster than any of the Cat 123 women on the day and a new State Time Trial record for Cat 3's. 

Linda Alton had a strong performance finishing fourth in the Cat 3's.  The next day Linda Alton, and Betty Chang teamed up teammate Will Visser's daughter Avery Visser and Lauren Walker to finish 3rd in the Women's P123 team time trial.

The weekend started out for us with the Friday night criterium: a seventy five minute affair that would normally be held in blistering heat, but the recent rains kept the temperature down a little for us (97 degrees vs. 103 – we’ll take it!).
